Phase 2 Overview

The first phase of the PDP presented options for obtaining a comprehensive postdoc count and a sample frame of all postdocs. The purpose of Phase 2 was to test the feasibility of these options, which include:

  1. Developing a comprehensive list of institutions that employ postdocs (including non-academic institutions)
  2. Using this list to collect a comprehensive postdoc count
  3. Creating a list of temporary-visa holders (with foreign PhDs) working in US postdoc positions
  4. Creating a list of individuals with PhD-equivalent degrees working in US postdoc positions
  5. Developing guidelines to build and use a supplemental postdoc sampling frame
