Phase 1 Data Needs

Phase 1 of the PDP resulted in a comprehensive statement of postdoc data needs. The postdoc community asked for more complete coverage and content of postdoc data.

  • Number of foreign-degreed postdocs in the US

  • Factors that affected their decision to train in the US
  • Plans to stay or leave the US
  • Experiences and challenges unique to this population

Postdocs with PhD-equivalent degrees

  • Types of institutions that employ them
  • Experiences and challenges unique to this population

Non-academic postdocs

  • The number of postdocs working in non-academic settings
  • The type of training provided in these settings
