GSS Response Behavior Survey

A survey of GSS departmental respondents. The RBS assessed respondent behavior and perceptions of data quality during the 2005 GSS. It collected data about:

  • Postdoc definitional elements
  • Respondent behavior when providing postdoc-related data within the scope of the GSS
  • The efficiency of the current approach to postdoc data collection at US academic institutions within the GSS
  • The impact of organizational culture (policies, enforcement of rules, existence of special offices/people, etc.) on perceived data quality

Data collection took place during the spring and early summer, 2006. Respondents were initially notified by postal mail. The survey consisted of a short web-based interview with follow-up by telephone.
