MD: Doctor of Medicine Academic degree for medical doctors. It is a PhD-equivalent, professional degree.
NSRCG: National Survey of Recent College Graduates Survey administered to individuals who recently obtained bachelor's or master's degrees in a science, engineering or health field. NSCG track the number and characteristics of this population.
NSF: National Science Foundation Federal agency that supports and advances science and engineering research and education by issuing limited-duration grants and by conducting its own research studies.
PDP: Postdoc Data Project SRS-sponsored study to address the limited coverage and content of information about postdocs in the United States.
PhD: Doctor of Philosophy Terminal academic degree for many disciplines in math, science, and humanities.
PI: Principal Investigator The researcher in charge of a funded project. This individual takes direct responsibility for the planning and funding, completion, and reporting.
RBS: Response Behavior Survey Methodological study that studies respondent behavior in a particular data collection. Collects information that may inform sources of and solutions for misreporting.
SDR: Survey of Doctoral Recipients Longitudinal survey of participants in the SED who hold doctorate degrees in science and engineering fields. SDR is conducted biennially.
SED: Survey of Earned Doctorates Annual census of recent PhD recipients from US institutions. Collects information about post-graduation plans.
SEVIS: Student Exchange Visitor Information System A database for collecting and maintaining information on foreign citizens working or studying in the US on F, M, and J visas.
SRS: Science Resource Statistics Division within NSF that is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information on U.S. scientific and engineering resources.
SSG: Survey Sciences Group Survey research and data collection company which provides a broad range of methodological expertise and experience.
